Reese Witherspoon announces divorce from husband Jim Toth

 

After 12 years of marriage, Reese Witherspoon and her husband Jim Toth are getting a divorce.

Friday, the actress and producer released a joint statement on her verified Instagram account with Toth announcing the news.

The statement says, "We have some personal news to share...." We have made the difficult decision to divorce with a great deal of care and consideration.

The couple writes that they have "enjoyed so many wonderful years together" and "are moving forward with deep love, kindness, and mutual respect for everything we have created together" in the statement.

According to the statement, "Our biggest priority is our son and our entire family as we navigate this next chapter." These things are very personal and never easy. We truly value everyone's consideration of our family's privacy at this time.

In 2011, Witherspoon and Toth tied the knot. Together, they have one son. Additionally, Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe have two children together.
