Veteran run vehicle driver Justin Owen passed on Saturday following an accident in qualifying at the USAC AMSOIL Run Vehicle Public Title at Lawrenceburg Speedway in Indiana.

Owen crashes into the wall before going up high into turn 3 on video of the incident. His vehicle then, at that point, went air conceived, flipping through the air a few times prior to stopping in the track.

On social media, well wishes and tributes poured in.

Chase Briscoe of NASCAR posted on Twitter on Saturday that he learned of Owen's passing shortly after finishing his own race.

Briscoe wrote, "Raced against Justin a lot in sprint cars." Contemplations and petitions to God are with him and his loved ones."

Tony Stewart Racing wrote on Twitter, "It's never easy to be reminded how quickly things happen in this sport that we're not promised tomorrow." Keeping the family, companions and enthusiasts of Justin Owen in our requests. We're so upset for your misfortune."

Owen won two feature races in 2022 to become the defending track champion at Lawrenceburg Speedway, as stated in the USAC release. It was his first championship at the track, where he had competed for a long time.

USAC also listed some of Owen's "greatest achievements," including victories in 2016 and 2019 at Pennsylvania's Lernerville Speedway with the Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series.
